Centre workshops provide a specialist service, aimed at maximising a brain injury survivor's skills and quality of life

Tuesdays and Thursdays – 10am-2.30pm

At our Reablement Centre in Guildford

We believe that every brain injury survivor can reach their own unique potential.  Our wonderful Reablement Team, support staff and volunteers are all here to encourage each person to set goals to achieve what’s possible.  Have a go at creative writing, art or music?  Try your hand at cookery, mosaics or gardening?

Clients attend on a regular set day every week. Sessions provide fantastic peer support, social interaction, and offer a variety of activities designed to help improve thinking skills while adding purpose, structure and routine to a week.

Centre Workshops provide a specialist service with support aimed at improving the quality of life for brain injury survivors focusing on the following:

  1. Practical application – The main objective of the centre day is to provide practical activities for survivors to relearn or regain skills that have been compromised due to brain injury.
  2. Consistency – Centre Days allow individuals to work towards self-directed goals or continue with activities that help them to maintain their current skills, quality of life, independence, autonomy and wellbeing. Research suggests that brain injury is a significant barrier to social integration for many survivors, even after 10 years and asserts that skills which aren’t practised are likely to be lost, leading to a higher dependency on statutory services, and reduced opportunity for autonomy, independence and wellbeing.
  3. Opportunity – The main objective is to provide brain injury survivors the opportunity to benefit from independence and stimulation away from their usual family/carers and residence, and be as independent as possible away from home.

The day

Workshops focus on strengthening cognitive skills that may have been affected by your brain injury. Practical activities offer opportunities to use your thinking skills in a safe, non-pressured supportive environment, among people who understand the challenges you may have.

You may find yourself writing, making art, solving problems, gardening or listening to guest speakers share an interesting experience. We know that routine is essential but variety is wolcomed!

Bring along a packed lunch and enjoy time for a chat, or read, play pool or spend time in the garden.

The day is designed to help you to rebuild and relearn skills, while building and maintaining social connections.
