Annual Guildford Raft Race

First Saturday in July Every Year

We have had teams enter a few times and they have all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  We can offer advice and maybe items to borrow to build your raft and then you just raise your sponsorship for the event, ensuring it comes to Headway Surrey and not another Headway branch.  In 2023 the entry charge was £45 per raft.  Great team building day for companies and groups!

The race starts at Millmead Lock Island (GU2 4BE) at the bottom of Guildford High Street and behind the Yvonne Arnauld Theatre (by the Britannia Pub),  There are different categories, from Super Raft, General Raft, Junior Raft, Best Fancy Dress Raft, Best Eco Raft etc, so plenty of trophies to win!  You can also enter with a paddleboard in the paddleboard category.

The race finishes at Waterside Centre, Stoughton (GU1 1LW) which is the location of the Wey Kayak Club. There are facilities for changing, showering, food, drinks, bar and BBQ.  Limited parking, but ample space for loading.  Alternative parking in surrounding roads.

The Guildford Lions organise the Race and co-ordinate the event.  They advertise on their website
