Chair of trustees

Headway Surrey is looking for a motivational leader who can lead the Board of Trustees.  We are looking for an experienced Chair or a Trustee looking for the next step to come on board. The charity provides cognitive rehabilitation, support and services throughout Surrey for adults (18+) affected by Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), usually due to stroke, accident or illness. Headway also provides support for their families, carers and employees.

As the Chair of the Board of Trustees, you will be an important player in the governance, financial controls and policies and the strategic direction of the Charity, helping to achieve the vision and ensuring the Charity fulfils its charitable purpose through the development of the organisation.

This is an interesting and positively challenging time to join Headway Surrey as we implement our new turnaround plan and celebrate 40 years.

Our Board is currently made up of inspiring individuals from different backgrounds, working collaboratively to ensure we hold the vision and mission at our hearts and make a significant difference to the lives of our clients and their families/carers and raise awareness both with the general public and health and social care professionals.

The role is for a 4 year term and the successful candidate should look to invest 2 days a month to the charity.  The Chair will attend 6 Board meetings a year which are early evening either online or face-to-face (1-1.5hrs) and also the monthly online Finance Committee meeting (up to 1 hr).

The Chair Role Description is below for information and if you are interested, please contact us for an informal discussion, a tour of our centre, or send a CV and a covering letter as to why this interests you.

You will be provided with a comprehensive induction and support programme and we will offer to buddy you with an existing Trustee to help settle you into the role if you would like.

If you would like to help make a difference to the lives of adults living with brain injuries, we would love to hear from you.
